              Summer Ride Club
Ride Club is for beginner-intermediate women mountain bikers who want to ride regularly in a supported trail ride, and continue to develop skills along the way.
Have you done a Foundational Skills Series and want to consolidate those skills and progress your riding?
Do you want to ride with others that are at the same/similar skill level and not worry that you’re holding others back?
Do you want to build your confidence, fitness and skills on trails?
Do you want to session the tricky bits on trails so you can stop getting off and walking?
Do you want to keep your momentum and need some motivation?
Do you want to be part of a friendly, supportive, female mtb community?
Do you want to get familiar with and learn to ride the trails at Stromlo?
Do you want to meet some other women to ride with?
Join us for Summer Ride Club!
Who this isn’t for:
-Beginners who have never done a skills clinic
-Riders who don’t want to progress any skills
-Riders who are already comfortable with the skills they have and aren’t looking to improve
-Riders who want a high intensity work out
-Strong intermediate or advanced riders who want to be challenged
-Riders who can’t yet manage riding at least 5km of undulating terrain over 90mins.
PREREQUISITES:
A PREREQUISITE FOR JOINING RIDE CLUB IS THAT PARTICIPANTS HAVE DONE A FOUNDATIONAL MTB SKILLS COURSE, either with Dirt Maidens or another provider OR have some solid mtb experience. This is not a beginner skills course and it is assumed that participants will have an understanding of the foundational skills and are beginning to consolidate these skills. Please email info@dirtmaidens.com.au if you have any questions about this.
The details:
This program runs from December 1st through to February 28th, a total of 13 weeks, with a 2 week break over the Christmas shutdown period.
-Weekly skills focus sent to your email each Friday, with a video and PDF description to practise at home.
-6 x 1hr45min guided Social+Skills ride on green trails and fire trails at Stromlo (and some blue trails for the low intermediate groups), with a focus on specific skills from previous weeks.
-These are ‘no drop’ rides, and we always wait for the slowest rider. We may do some shuffling based on fitness level, so that the groups can move together at a similar pace. If you’re building fitness, the beginner group will always wait for the slowest rider.
-If you can’t make the date listed for a ride, you can join a makeup session (makeup session dates listed below).
-After rides, participants are welcome and encouraged to stay and chat at the Handlebar Cafe, which operates on weekends and on Friday afternoons.
-Permits for 2 new locations- Bruce Ridge and Cotter Pines!
Also included in Summer Ride Club:
-Closed Facebook group for riders to share wins, ask questions and general chat
-Social dinner in February (dinner not included)
-Bike tech night in February
*Maximum 8ppl per ride, however we aim for a 1:6 coach to rider ratio.
