Scaredy Cats Clinic
This is a 2.5hr clinic for ‘complete beginners’, ‘beginner beginners’ and ‘scaredy cats’ who are interested in learning to mountain bike, but don’t feel quite ready for the full Foundational Skills Series. This is for those who have no experience riding on single track mountain bike trails and limited or no experience on gravel, road or commuting.
It is also suited to those with low fitness.
If you’re feeling nervous, overly cautious or worried about keeping up or holding others back, this is the clinic for you. It is a skills based program (i.e does not require lots of trail riding) and if you can ride a bike in a straight line- you can do it!
This clinic will cover bike check, bike set up, starting and stopping safely, basic braking, understanding gears, and body position, slow speed control and basic cornering.
The skills covered in this clinic will give you confidence in yourself and your bike, and set you up to move onto the full Dirt Maidens Foundational Skills Series. This will enable you to ride confidently on fire trails, progressing to easy green mountain bike trails.
This session is conducted in an open area at UC Stromlo Forest Park.
Once you have completed this clinic, you will be ready for the Foundational Skills Series.
We are also running some specific mother-daughter sessions for girls aged 8-15 and their female parent/carer/trusted adult (For girls 16+ please book into one of the regular sessions). When you book below, the booking price is for both the adult and young person, however you will only be able to fill in details for one person.
If you’re interested in this option and you are the legal parent/guardian, please book in via the website and fill in your details on the registration form. We will then send you a link to register your child.
If you are not the parent/legal guardian, please email us at info@dirtmaidens.com.au prior to booking and we will organise a registration link for the parent/legal guardian to fill in.
