Prepare to Jump!

$189.00

This 3hr clinic is aimed at preparing you with the skills, experience and confidence you need to begin jumping safely.

This clinic will continue to develop skills - especially stability & balance, pressure control and timing & coordination by working on building block components such as range of movement, cornering  as well as manoeuvres like wheel lifts, bunny hops & a few other fun elements.

This will include assessing riders in corners and developing cornering skills that are closely linked to jumping skills. It will include more advanced bike/body separation, timing and speed, pumping, and pressure control as well as wheel lifts.

This course is a pre-requisite to our Intro to Jumps and Drops course and your coach/es will give you feedback and let you know if you’re ready to progress or if not, what skills you need to work on to continue preparation to jump.

What you will need:

For this course, you will need a good quality mountain bike that is well maintained, as well as a helmet and full finger gloves.

Full face helmet is not required, but is encouraged, and will be mandatory for the next course if you choose to progress.

Knee and elbow pads are highly recommended.

Other protective equipment is optional.

FAQs

Q) Why is this only offered on weekdays?
A) Weekdays at Stromlo are much quieter, giving everyone more opportunity to ride trails without the busyness that comes on jumps trails after business hours and on weekends. It is safer and we place a lot of emphasis on safety.

Q) Why do I need to do this course before I do the Intro to Jumps course?
A) This course is designed to assess riders for readiness and give riders an understanding of the key components of jumping, so that they can continue to practice these even if they are not ready to progress to jumping. It forms part of our Risk Management Process so that when people sign up to the Intro to Jumps course, we know that they are ready and ALL riders who sign up are ready and can progress safely together.
