Introduction to Off Road Biking
This is a 2.5hr clinic for ‘complete beginners’, ‘beginner beginners’ and ‘scaredy cats’ who are interested in learning to mountain bike, but don’t feel quite ready for the full Foundational Skills Series. This is for those who have no experience riding on single track mountain bike trails and limited or no experience on gravel, road or commuting.
If you’re feeling nervous, overly cautious or worried about keeping up or holding others back, this is the clinic for you. It is a skills based program (i.e does not require lots of trail riding) and if you can ride a bike in a straight line- you can do it!
This clinic will cover bike check, bike set up, starting and stopping safely, basic braking, understanding gears, and body position and basic cornering.
The skills covered in this clinic will give you confidence in yourself and your bike, and set you up to move onto the full Dirt Maidens Foundational Skills Series. This will enable you to ride confidently on fire trails, progressing to easy green mountain bike trails.
This session is conducted in an open area at UC Stromlo Forest Park.
Once you have completed this clinic, you will be ready for the Foundational Skills Series.
